Right side hip pain that spreads to the knee or the ankle
My right side hip (not the back but on the side) often gets uncomfortable when I sit or stand too long. It only elevates when I lay on my front with my legs stretched out. The pain always worsens when I am stuck in traffic during driving. When it is slightly worsened, the pain will spread to the knee, and to the ankle when severe. What kind of doctor do I look for for my condition?

Answer:

Hello,

We extend our sincere gratitude for choosing Gleneagles Hospital Malaysia for your healthcare requirements.

We are pleased to inform that Gleneagles Hospitals do offer treatments and procedures for your medical condition.

It sounds like you might be dealing with some issues related to hip, muscle, or nerve irritation, particularly given the way the pain radiates down your leg. For this type of discomfort, you might want to start with a few options:

  1. Orthopedic Specialist: An orthopedic doctor who specializes in bones, joints, and muscles.
  2. Neurologist: If the pain is radiating significantly, seeing a neurologist can help rule out any nerve-related issues.
It might also help if you keep track of when the pain worsens and any activities that alleviate or exacerbate it, as this information can be useful for your doctor.

We will contact you to schedule an appointment.
