FILAC Surgery fail or success indication
Dear Sir/MadamI recently having laser FILAC surgery for a fistula. It has been almost 4 months. I notice there is skin tag from wound healing with a hole. After soft stool bowel movement, there is stool and discharge coming from the hole. Does it indicate fail surgery? Thanks and would appreciate an advise from Colorectal surgeon.

Answer:

Dear Sir/Madam,

We extend our sincere gratitude for choosing Gleneagles Hospital Malaysia for your healthcare requirements.

After laser FILAC surgery for a fistula, some changes can happen as you heal. A skin tag and discharge from a hole might mean that healing isn't finished or there could still be an issue with the fistula.

It's important to follow up with a colorectal surgeon, as they can provide a proper evaluation and determine if further treatment is needed. They may want to examine the area to ensure that the fistula has healed properly and to rule out any complications. It’s always best to consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice and assessment.
