Gleneagles Hospital Penang’s Pharmacy Department provides comprehensive pharmaceutical services to cater to the requirements of all our patients. The primary goal of our Pharmacy Department is to ensure optimized pharmaceutical care, and service excellence through our highly-trained staff and quality pharmaceutical products.
As a Joint Commission International (JCI) and Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) accredited hospital, we adhere to strict standard operating procedures (SOP), and policies to ensure the best possible clinical outcomes.
Within our Pharmacy Department, various sub-specialized departments exist to ensure specialization, efficiency, and convenience for all patients. The sub-specialized departments include:
- Inpatient Pharmacy
Our Inpatient Pharmacy functions primarily to supply medication to our inpatients. Stringent verification procedures are employed by our Pharmacy personnel to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of treatment during medication dispensing, medication review and medication reconciliation, as well as prior to administration of medication.
To ensure the comfort and convenience for our patients, ward pharmacy services, medication counselling and bedside dispensing services are available.
- Outpatient Pharmacy
Our Outpatient Pharmacy functions primarily to supply medication to our outpatients. They are located on the 1st Floor, 2nd Floor, and 4th Floor of our hospital.
A wide range of medications are available at the Outpatient Pharmacy including prescription only medications, over-the-counter medications, controlled medications, as well as extemporaneous preparations.
- Oncology Pharmacy
Our Oncology Pharmacy is located inside the Oncology unit. Oncology Pharmacy houses our Cytotoxic Drug Reconstitution (CDR) Unit – a specialized unit to prepare safe and sterile chemotherapy drugs for patients on chemotherapy.
