wrist pain, TFCC tear, chondromalacia, lunar bone fracture
I went to Dr. Chidam and my diagnosis was TFCC tear and chondromalacia. The treatment given for me was injecting steroid, wore cast, and undergo physiotherapy, back in August 2023. After that until now, im in Russia for studying purpose. Eversince the treatment, doing self physiotherapy is my only option. But then, I went to the Dr here to seek for treatment again in May 2024. I did an xray, and then the result showed that I have semilunar bone fracture. The only solution the Dr gave me is to just wear my wrist supporter/splint and to just consume NSAID medicine. Until now, June 2024, there is no improvement in my recovery. Its restricting me from doing normal daily activities, and my wrist on the TFCC tear injury site, (lateral side) shows a bit cyanotic (blue-ish) and redness which i guess an inflammation occur. The pain is not even reducing. So what would you recommend for me to do? What intervention shoud be done?
Answer:
Hello,
For TFCC tears and chondromalacia, it's important to continue with the recommended treatment plan. In addition to the steroid injection, wearing a cast, and doing physiotherapy, there are some other measures you can take to help with your recovery.
1. Rest and avoid activities that exacerbate your symptoms.
2. Ice the affected area to help reduce inflammation and pain.
3. Consider using a splint or brace to support the wrist and promote healing.
4. Perform gentle range of motion exercises to maintain flexibility.
5. Strengthen the muscles around the wrist and forearm to provide added support.
6. Follow any additional recommendations from your healthcare provider or physical therapist.
It's also important to follow up regularly to monitor your progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed. If you experience any new or worsening symptoms, be sure to seek medical attention promptly.
