Lichen Planus
Hi doctor, I'm asking on behalf of my friend.Few months ago, some rashes appear on her skin, she thought it would disappear on it's own. But after one & half week she went to hospital because the rashes started to spread. She was diagnosed with scabies and got medicine for it. But then, the rashes didn't dissappear, it's still there, no changes.. She finally go to see dermatologist, and diagnosed with lichen planus. She got medicine like cream and so on but still no changes.. After few months, the rashes spread to mouth. She become very stress and don't know how to handle it, she tried few other treatments/medication but still same. May I ask your opinion regarding this? What clinics or doctor should she go for this? Or is there any medication can help to treat this? Does lifestyle also give effect to the lichen planus? Or other than medicine from clinics/hospital, it there any alternative treatment for this? Thank you

Answer:

Dear Sir/Madam,

We extend our sincere gratitude for choosing Gleneagles Hospital Malaysia for your healthcare requirements.

This condition, characterized by itchy, flat, purple lesions, is best addressed by a dermatologist who can recommend treatments such as corticosteroids or other medications. Lifestyle factors like stress management and avoiding irritants may also help manage symptoms. It's crucial to consult a dermatologist before trying these options.
