A state-of-the-art surgical system that is redefining minimally invasive surgery
Better vision. Better precision.
Through the da Vinci technology, the experience of surgery has changed for millions of people globally. Powered by robotic technology, the da Vinci surgical system allows surgeons to perform intricate surgeries with utmost meticulousness. This means minimised complications, faster recovery time and a refined surgical experience.
What is robotic-assisted surgery?
Regarded as the most intuitive and advanced form of minimally invasive surgery, the da Vinci robotic surgery system enables surgeons to perform delicate procedures with better precision, which results in better outcomes for patients.
How is it carried out?
During the procedure, a surgeon typically sits a few feet from the operating table at a computer console that gives him a three-dimensional, high-definition view of the operating field. Two masters (similar to joysticks) that control the two mechanical arms on the robot manoeuvre surgical tools so the surgery can be performed using tiny holes or incisions.
Robotic Surgery in Urology and Gynaecology
In urology, robotic surgery is used to treat prostate, bladder or kidney cancer. This practice has long been established with approximately 95% of robotic surgeries being used for prostate cancer over a decade ago.
Other procedures that can be carried out include myomectomy, hysterectomy, radical surgery for gynaecological cancers and endometriosis, colorectal cancer and surgical procedures for head and neck, such as sleep apnea.
