World AMR Awareness Week 2024

Join us for World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week, an annual event aligned with the WHO’s global action plan to combat AMR. This year’s theme, "Antimicrobials: Handle with Care," highlights the urgency of addressing the rising threat of drug-resistant infections.

Our goal is to increase awareness and understanding of AMR among both the public and healthcare professionals, while promoting best practices to curb the overuse and misuse of antibiotics. The misuse of antibiotics accelerates resistance, and even as new medications are developed, behavioural change remains critical to preventing the rise of superbugs.

This event will feature educational booths and interactive sessions on the importance of proper antibiotic use, hand hygiene, and the benefits of vaccination—key strategies in preventing the spread of resistant infections.

AMR is a growing public health crisis that could lead us into a post-antibiotic era where common infections become deadly once again. By working together, we can protect future generations. Reducing AMR is everyone’s responsibility—let’s all be part of the solution.
