Gleneagles Hospital Kota Kinabalu and Faezah Healthcare Strengthen Community Awareness Through “Pink October” CSR Initiative

Kota Kinabalu, 3 November 2025 – In conjunction with international breast cancer awareness month, Pink October, Gleneagles Hospital Kota Kinabalu, in collaboration with Faezah Healthcare, organised a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign aimed at raising awareness and promoting early detection of breast cancer among the community in Sabah.

A breast cancer awareness talk featuring Breast and Endocrine Surgeon, Dr Lee Chang Haur was held at Dr Farid Medical Clinic, Jalan Pantai. The session focused on increasing public understanding of breast cancer prevention, risk factors, and the critical importance of early diagnosis in improving treatment outcomes. Dr Lee emphasized the role of education and open dialogue in reducing stigma and encouraging more women to prioritize regular health check-ups.

Through this collaborative initiative, a total of 90 participants had received complimentary breast ultrasound screenings, while 40 participants were given complimentary mammogram screenings. The effort was part of the hospital’s broader mission to extend its healthcare outreach beyond its walls and to ensure that essential health services, particularly preventive care, reached all segments of society, including those with limited access to screening facilities.

“Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women worldwide, however, many cases can be treated successfully if detected early,” said Dr Kelvin Ch’ng Boon Hong, Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles Hospital Kota Kinabalu. “Through this Pink October campaign, we aim not only to raise awareness but also to provide tangible support that empowers women to take proactive steps toward their health and well-being.

The collaboration with Faezah Healthcare has allowed us to reach more members of the community and deliver real impact where it matters most.”
