Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu held the inaugural cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training for the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) members on 19 July 2019, from 9 am until 12 pm at the hospital’s training room. The half day training consisted of a lecture and practical sessions. Attended by 29 members, also present was the President of MATTA Sabah Chapter, Lawrence Chin. The first session will be followed by at least two more sessions this year and will continue into 2020.
Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement with MATTA on 11 June 2019 to provide CPR training to tour agencies and guides in Sabah on a pro bono basis.
The partnership is aimed at equipping the frontline staff of the local tourism industry with life-saving skills in the event of sudden cardiac arrests. Cardiac arrests can be caused by heart attack, stroke, choking, drowning, and accidents.
