Warriors In Purple Night Run for cancer awareness

More than 1,850 runners became strong advocates for cancer patients and survivors as they took part in the Warriors in Purple 2019 Night Run.


Warriors in Purple is an initiative by Gleneagles Hospital Penang with the primary purpose of raising awareness on cancer, promoting healthy lifestyles and celebrating cancer survivors. The name and theme of the event has been specially selected to symbolize the tenacity and fighting spirit of cancer survivors.

Over 1,800 runners turned up to show their defiance in the fight against cancer at the Esplanade. They were flagged off by Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow, Gleneagles Hospital Penang chief executive officer Mr. Ivan Loh, chief operating officer Ms. Yong Zi Ling, and Medical Advisory Committee chairman Dato' Dr. Lai Yoon Kee.
