Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu officially launched its 24-hour Heart Attack Centre on 26 September 2019. YB Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung, Minister of Sabah Health and People’s Wellbeing, officiated the launch of the centre. The centre provides 24/7 response for anyone who suspects they are having a heart attack or who has just suffered a heart attack. The centre carries out emergency life-saving procedures such as primary angioplasty, which is a micro-surgical procedure used to open up blocked blood vessels. Medical evidence has shown that a patient who receives such medical treatment during the first few hours of a heart attack will have a greatly enhanced survival rate with better outcomes that improve long-term recovery. Gleneagles Hospital has already been providing this invaluable 24/7 service in Kota Kinabalu since as early as 2015.
