Dr Alagammai graduated from Bangalore University in 1997. Subsequently, she worked in the emergency as well as the psychiatric department till 2001, after which she began her journey in OBGYN. She commenced her training as a medical officer in Queen Elizabeth Hospital and later in Sabah Women and Children Hospital (SWACH). She obtained her postgraduate degree from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2009 and returned to serve the people in the state of Sabah. She worked as a specialist in SWACH which has the highest delivery rate in Malaysia.

She underwent further training in Ultrasonography in Chennai, Basic IUI and Semenology (basic fertility treatments) from EART (accredited by Embrology and PGD Academy UK) and advanced laparoscopic training in Kerala. Dr Gammai is able to handle most obstetric and gynaecological conditions with special interest in subfertility and fetomaternal. She is also keen on performing key hole surgeries for gynaecological conditions.

She had been in charge of the Feto Maternal Unit at SWACH. She is also responsible for teaching 3rd and 5th year medical students from University Malaysia Sabah as well as nurses in midwifery training. She strives with determination to improve the status of women health and to bring a smile on their faces.
