Dr. Chuah has been trained to provide anaesthesia for various types of surgery, including neurosurgery, paediatric surgery and cardiac surgery.
Dr. Chuah received his early schooling at Kim Seng Primary School, and at SMJK Jit Sin in Bukit Mertajam, Penang.
Dr. Chuah graduated from the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 1991 and obtained his specialist qualification (Master of Anaesthesiology) from the University of Malaya in 2000.
He was appointed Clinical Specialist at the Department of Anaesthesiology, Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur, in June 2000. In July 2001, he went for cardiac anaesthesiology training at the National Heart Centre, Kuala Lumpur until February 2003. He then resumed his post as Clinical Specialist at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre until he joined Gleneagles Penang in August 2006.
Dr. Chuah published his experiences in anaesthesiology as a series of case reports in the Asean Journal of Anaesthesiology and Malaysian Medical Journal. He is also a contributor to ‘A Handbook on Acute Care’ (UM Press 2005).
Dr. Chuah is a member of the Academy of Medicine, Malaysia, Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiology, a life member of Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and Penang Private Medical Practitioner Society (PMPS) and a committee member of Koperasi Doktor Pulau Pinang Berhad.
Dr. Chuah is married and blessed with three lovely children – a girl and two boys. He enjoys reading and swimming during his free time.
